Think Brick Awards 2019

Each year we are continually inspired by the creative designs and innovative processes behind Australia’s best architectural projects showcasing bricks, concrete masonry and roof tiles. Entries are now open for the 2019 Think Brick Awards program, which offers $10,000 cash prizes across five categories. For new architects entering the awards program for the first time, we are also offering a $10,000 cash prize for the best new entrant project.

Since 2005 the Think Brick Awards have encouraged architects to push boundaries and reimagine the application of masonry in contemporary design. The program rewards innovation and craftsmanship in masonry, recognising the important contributions that architects, builders, bricklayers and manufacturers make to the process of creating outstanding residential and commercial projects.

The Horbury Hunt Commercial Award celebrates innovation and craftsmanship in commercial brickwork – the prestigious category is the pinnacle of showcasing brick design for the industry. The Horbury Hunt Residential Award recognises outstanding use of brick in the design of residential projects and celebrates the unlimited possibilities for contemporary design presented by the humble material.

In association with the Concrete Masonry Association of Australia (CMAA), the Kevin Borland Masonry Award recognises commercial and residential built projects that highlight the design potential of concrete masonry. Also in association with the CMAA, the Bruce Mackenzie Landscape Award recognises outstanding built projects that use clay brick and concrete masonry in landscape and urban design.

In association with the Australian Roofing Tile Association (ARTA), the Robin Dods Roof Tile Excellence Award invites you to push the envelope in innovative roof design using terracotta and concrete roof tiles.

Entries are open from 19th November 2018 to 3rd May 2019, and the gala awards dinner will be held on 15th August 2019 at Crown Palladium, Melbourne.

We look forward to exploring how you are using imagination and innovation with bricks, pavers, blocks and roof tiles to create outstanding architectural projects. We wish you all the best with your entries!
