Join Think Brick Australia and the Concrete Masonry Association of Australia in Brisbane for the next edition of Middle Ground: Building blocks with bricks and blocks, an evening of networking, drinks and canapés exploring practical, cost-effective ways to deliver more housing in our cities.
As the conversation around the “missing middle” intensifies, this event brings together leading voices to highlight how masonry can unlock well-scaled, enduring solutions. Architect Tone Wheeler of Environa Studio will present on the resilience, efficiency and long-term value of 3-storey masonry walk-up flats, an often-overlooked typology with real potential to shape the future of urban housing.
We are also pleased to feature Michael Christensen of m3architecture, who will showcase their Think Brick Award-winning UQ Plant Futures Facility, a project that elevates brickwork beyond cladding and demonstrates its capacity as both an artform and a defining architectural expression.
Middle Ground is about finding balance between density and liveability, cost and quality, and tradition and innovation, while showcasing how bricks and blocks can quite literally build the middle.
